Twenty Tracks Per Year – 1977 to 2025

The mission: create a playlist of my top twenty tracks for every year from 1977. Punk, post-punk, new wave, indie, or anything with attitude and heart. Most years are locked and loaded — just wrangling the final stragglers from the ‘90s and ‘00s.

Method in My Mayhem

• One track per artist per year.
• It must have been released during that year — no live versions, no reissues, no nonsense.
• Singles only up to 1999; album tracks or singles from 2000 onwards.
• Alphabetical order by artist, because ranking them would probably finish me off.

Tough choices were made. Some favourites had to sit out. But what’s left is a raw, honest snapshot of each year through my ears — moments that mattered, riffs that stuck, and choruses that still rattle around my head.
